Pours a deep red brown with a big and slightly creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, lightly spicy (cinnamon?) and an unfortunate underlining of metal. Light carbonation making the mouthfeel better than if not. Still it starts off a little thin on the ground, then a lot of roasted and spicy sweetness breaks through. Long sweet aftertaste with a little cinnamon. And yes, Jacob, it is a Schwarzbier! BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Tap @ Sapporo Brewery Museum: Dark brown, near black color. Nose is fresh and toasty, lots of roast and cold pressed coffee notes along with a light plum and apricot background. The flavor is malty and full body, dry, but still like a dessert beer with its roasty qualities. Tasty finish to boot. beerguy101 (3971), Newark, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 20, 2007 This Schwarzbier pours a dark brown color from a 12oz can. Medium sized beige foamy head. Aroma is roasty malt with a touch of chocolate. Medium bodied dark lager. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hops are a touch earthy. It’s a little thin, but not that bad. Nice balance, good carbonation. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, Thanks to Dan for hauling this stuff all the way across the Pacific.
