It was a secret beer, and I swore it was an alt. Lovely reddish amber color. Fruity, caramel aroma. rounded, somewhat sweet, fruity flavor. Very ale-like. A nice beer, much better than from the can. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009Aroma: Slightly earthy, lightly roasted grain
Flavor: Like the nose. Finishes with a subtle, slightly bitter roasted flavor.
Comment: Very Smooth--Good palate. Not complex though not bad. This was a "secret" beer on tap.
From a can:
Color: Dark copper, brownish amber. Off-white, cream colored head.
Aroma: Floral hop, light caramel note, moderately rich malt.
Flavor: Earthy hop and malt combination, medium roasted grain and caramel. Finishes with earthy hop flavors, burnt caramel, and subtle, understated bitterness.
Comment: Distinctly different from other Yebisu beers. No cloyingly sweet, floral malt and hops. Drier. Good integration and balance of flavors that sustains from start to finish (no signs of a hollow mid-palate). This seems to have a "complete" and full mouthfeel through out all parts of the mouth, and this sense of fullness continues even on the finish. Surprisingly good palate.
I would score this: Ap3/Ar7/Fl8/P5/O16 for a total of 3.9 on this second tasting. larsga (2992), Oslo, Norway

Light caramelly aroma. Sweetish caramelly taste with perfumy hop notes. Smooth and soft mouthfeel. Dry grassy aftertaste. Not bad, but a bit boring. The malty aroma was a little toasty and mildly sweet. The flavor had light toasted malt. and some hops coming in the middle to finish. Light to medium body. beastiefan2k (1605), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA

Clear copper color, corny-malt with some nuttiness. Light beer, watery, boring. Just kind of a nothing beer, so prototypical. tokyogoat (576), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Pours golden orange with thin head, falls leaving just a halo, little lacing.
Nose is good, floral hops, slight belgian esters, cereal grain, spicy, etc.
Taste, hint of white pepper, very dry, slight caramel sweetness on the middle, tastes like a watered down american amber. Nice hop bitterness. Theis (3791), Denmark
