Appearance: Transparent brownish yellow Aroma: More subdued floral aromas than The Hop. Moderately roasted malt, honey, ripe peach. Flavor: Some sweet roasted grain, honey, stonefruit (peach and apricot). Comment: The initial sweetness turns drier on the mid-palate. Compared to The Hop, the malt is reigned in by bittering hops. Rising bitterness and understated roasted grain/coffee note appear on a moderately complex and lasting finish.

2009 Version. I think it is the same recipe. Nice, light amber color, orange tints. Looks good. Thick, foamy head. Aroma is basic Yebisu but with a bit more caramel and something slightly smoother. Palate also nicely smooth. Flavor has a bit of caramel sweetness, some depth. strong hop bitterness in the finish. Decent enough stuff, though not all that special.

Can (nice colours). Clear deep golden colour with a nice medium off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel. Good mouthfeel. The flavour has a nice maltiness with a pleasant bitterness and caramel. Malty bitter finish.

2009 Edition. Have not drank regular Yebisu in a long time so tough for me to compare the two; however this was a pretty good beer. It didn’t seem all that mellow in it’s taste (and it didn’t seem all the "Premium" either actually) but it carried some aspects of a good real ale...very smooth on the palate with a slight creaminess to it. Reminiscent of Anchor Steam beer but with less of a distinct hop profile and a bit more of a caramel presence.

A deep Golden, nearly Orange colored brew with a creamy head. A semi-sweet malty nose with grass and a touch of floral hopping. Wow, surprisingly tasty with a hoppy taste up front, mild sweet candy in the middle and a bitter follow. This is going to be a good summer with this and the Asahi "Goku" comming out new, the Japanese macros are getting the point, make better beer!

This lager pours a light orange gold color from a 12 oz can. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is cereal, sweet and a touch of grass. A light to medium bodied lager. Malts are cereal and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. It’s a touch thin, and a little sweet. It’s a pale lager, but its way better than most premium lagers. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Thanks to Dan for hauling this stuff all the way across the Pacific.

Mild aroma that is a bit cardboard, dark-ish for a lager and Slight sweetness that leads in to citrus and follows with long bitter finish. Good beer with a bit more than the usual japanese beer

Can at the RB Rochester Gathering, Aug. 30/ 09. Thanks, KyotoLefty! Clear golden color. Foamy white head with a little lacing. Very light aroma with hints of metal and grain. Sweeter malt flavor with slight hops in the background. Slight hop bite at the end.
