Clean grainy malt aroma, delicate herbal hops, a touch of brine. Smooth round bread, given brightness with a lively level of carbonation. The backdrop of hops show of a bit more as the sip finishes, a bit of lingering tartness. Hop presence grows a bit through the glass. My expectations for this were for a fairly bog standard lager, but this is actually rather nice. Poperinge (359), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada

I understand this is a Japanese standard and by that standard it blows the major Canadian beers out of the water. | 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Pours a crisp gold with a large fluffy white head. Aroma is uninspiring. Slightly sweet malts with just a touch of hops, and metal. Body is medium to light with plenty of fizz. Flavor is of sorta sweet. I don’t notice any hops, but there is some malt in it. It’s not terrible, but it’s trying. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 26, 2007 Clear golden color. Minimal, rapidly dissipating head. Very light, somewhat faint, sweet, malty aroma. Malty, sweet, hoppy flavors. Pretty basic, but well-balanced. Not bad. A decent offering from a Japanese macro. tenghave (402), Taastrup, Denmark

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 8, 2006 Yebisu Premium All Malt Traditional Lager Beer. 50 cl. can. Nice golden colour with a big average lasting head. Aroma of malts and hops. Fresh flavour of slightly toasted malts, little hoppiness, touch of sweetness and little bitter-sweet aftertaste. A pretty good brew, one of the very best "lighter" brews from Sapporo. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Maybe a touch above the Kirin, Sapporo, and Asahi macros I’ve been drinking here in Japan, but not by much. Lots of rice and phony malts underneat a beer that finished with a decent hop profile. However, this beer was originally served at something like 40F, so it clearly was in stealth mode, trying to avoid flavor detection. As it warmed, it just turned more and more adjunct-laden tasting. Appearance was originally golden with a nice white head, very decent lacing for a macro pale lager. An ok beer, definitely decent for a pale lager style, but just not worth my liver.
