Nice body, and very moreish. It varies in quality, due to climatic conditions and subtle variations in the recipe, as befits an artisanal product. Martin, the new brewer, is doing a good job. This is my wife’s favourite draught beer, and I agree that it deserves a platform similar to the famous Dark Ruby. cgarvieuk (4212), Edinburgh, Scotland

This appeared less brown, but more like another orangey/amber beer, with a creamy lacing. Unspecified aroma. Rich silky Bitter - very dry but not offensive. Some syrup and pepper, pineapple and then hard malt to finish. Very balanced and addictive - and enjoyed in the splendid surroundings of this well maintained, period pub. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England

Very malty, even patisserie flavours, cookie notes, with a rather good UK hops ending. Light to medium bodied, rather thin for S. Hughes habits. Very surprising indeed, but all in all a nice beer.
