austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Jan 21, 2006 Yowza! Another stellar winner from the fine folks at Saranac. This witbier is the equal of Hoegaarden and Blue Moon, which are two of my favorites. Fragrant with a true-to-style witbier flavor that’s reminiscent of the long-gone NYC beer called simply "Wit" which was once brewed for the NYC market in the mid-1990s. In fact, this beer tastes almost exactly like "Wit" did, as I recall. Lots of spice, and some light pepper. Phenomenally bold of Saranac. Nice move. sweetnjguy29 (1), USA does not count Jun 17, 2006 I’m not sure what sort of crack these other reviewers are smoking, but I really liked Saranac’s Belgian White. The beer has very rich floral and fruity aroma and a hoppy spicy fruity taste. I’ve had many Belgian Whites, and this is amoung the best and most drinkable. I think a lot of the poor ratings come from the fact that the beer doesn’t taste as complicated or as yeasty as a traditional wit. Big deal, it still tastes great! rodneykm (108), Westminster, South Carolina, USA Jan 25, 2008 Immediately became one of my favorite beers after the first sip. I really liked the citrus flavor this one had. Now I must find a place to get a six pack of it. Dickinsonbeer (2550), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2002 i dont know much about belgian wits but this one was very good IMO. The only other wit I have had so far is whirlwind and this is just as good but different. Saranac has a little more bitter and sweet orange peel and overall fruitiness, whereas whirlwind is a little more bubblegum clover spicy taste and aroma. Still this so really good. One of my new favorites from saranac. This has so much flavor, yet very smooth. Im not sure how close this comes to an authentic wit but I still like it. MilkmanDan (1938), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 1, 2004 Clear gold. Nose is spicy and a bit yeasty. Flavor is quite spicy, has a nice balance of toasty maltiness at the back end. Crisp lemon zest and a bit of sugar. Has a bit of a chemical character as an undertone, but it’s not overpowing. Enjoyed this quite a bit.
