Commercial Description:
Saranac Big Moose Ale is an American Pale Ale with a kick. The medium-bodied malt sweetness is balanced by a nice crisp bitterness from hand selected centennial and cascade hops. Look for a vibrant citrusy hop aroma that will leave you craving another swig!

The aroma is quite citrusy and yeasty with plenty of malt. The appearance is light amber with a large foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter finish that lingers. The palate is right for the style. Overall this is a drinkable beer in every respect but nothing outstanding.

A pretty hoppy brew from Saranac. Tastes like it’s been aggressively hopped, fairly bitter, nice amount of malts to even out the flavor, medium body. Great to stay warm on a bitter upstate NY night.

This is a nice, solid, pale ale. Hard to the nose with the hop/malt combo the distinct flavorful cirtus intrusion settles nicely within reason. This is a solid pale ale.

12 ounce bottle from the winter sampler. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of leafy and slightly herbal hops with a nutty maltiness. Taste is bitter herbal and spicy hops. Medium bodied. Decent and fairly bland.

Pours a light amber with a white head. Aroma of light hops and a bit of malt. Flavor is a small hit of hoppy bitterness, toasted and caramel malts.

One of Saranac’s best new beers in a long time. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet grapefruit, pine and pineapple. The flavor was sweetish, tart and bitter with notes of pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of caramel. The finish was long, sweet and had a fruit cocktail element. Medium body. Very nice.

Pours a clear honey color. Aroma of yeast and grain. Taste is slightly bitter with a strong grain and yeast. Not that good.

!2 oz bottle from a gift box. Not sure why this isn’t rated any better. Very nice pour and color. Head was creamy thick. Smells of graprfuit, pine, and sweet malt. The taste is piney, then fades to a sugary grapefruit, and goes to a spruce-like finish. Greatly balanced. Just as good as any IPA. Nice drinkability, and nice warmth.
