The head stays put and leaves thick lacing all the way down the glass. The aroma is straightforward: grapefruit and pine. It smells really fresh. It’s medium light bodied and quite smooth. The finish is clean and dry. It tastes really simple. It’s all grapefruit peel and pine resin. There’s enough bitterness here to remind me that this is, in fact, a pale ale. This is sort of like if you made a simple home brew and everything went perfect. I can’t stress the simplicity of this one enough. I like that a lot.

Deep copper/orange pour with good clarity and an off white film of head. Buttery, stale maltose aroma with subdued citrusy hops. Thin bodied and over carbonated. Fairly dry, though with a light grainy note. Over-attenuated and papery. Prickly with faded hop character. Fizzy and restrained. Jblauvs (606), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2009 A pretty hoppy brew from Saranac. Tastes like it’s been aggressively hopped, fairly bitter, nice amount of malts to even out the flavor, medium body. Great to stay warm on a bitter upstate NY night. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 7, 2009 This is a nice, solid, pale ale. Hard to the nose with the hop/malt combo the distinct flavorful cirtus intrusion settles nicely within reason. This is a solid pale ale.
