argo0 (6145), Washington DC, USA Jan 9, 2003 Creamy tan head atop a clear dark mahogany body. Aroma is sweet and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is moderately sweet, some caramel up front and chocolate later. Swallow and aftertaste are mild with but a hint of roasty bitterness. CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 29, 2006 Pours a dark mahogany brown with a thin wispy light tan head. Dry toasty caramel and hints of dark chocolate permeate the aroma. Body starts with a sweet caramel chocolate flavor and a smooth, but thin, bittersweet lingering chocolate finish. Very, very drinkable. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jan 3, 2003 Fizzy tan head atop a thinnish dark brown body; dies fairly quickly. Nose porter-like, chocolate-coffee and a hint of red wine. Flavor is malty, crisp, slightly pungeant, roasty, very good; a bit thin but nice and warming and long on the palate. Very decent, one of Saranac’s best; glad I could get just this and the Caramel Porter (up soon!) from the 12-pack without having to buy all the other crap...
