Jan 1, 2003 Lovely, a subtle bittersweet taste. Not as profound or strong in flavor as Brooklyn Chocolate Stout or Young’s Double Stout. But similar along those lines.

May 18, 2008 It has a dark murky brown color with dark red highlights. The head is tan in color, foamy and leaves nice lace on the glass. There is a dark malty aroma with a heavy toasted flavor. There are some chocolate notes as well as some mildly bitter hops within a creamy smooth medium bodied palate. This is a very good offering from the Saranac family of beers.

Dec 4, 2002 Malty and delicious! Truly a pleasure to sip cuz it’s sort of chewy and sweet. Not chocolatey in taste, but malty enough in flavor to at least be the dunkel that Saranac Dunkel pretends to be. Nice.
