definite citrus, pine and resin in the nose. pours amber with medium head and okay retention. flavor is piney with some resin and grapefruit in the finish. Caramel malt pokes its head in for a little balance. viscous oily hop palate. Overall a good IPA, not imperial by some standards, but hoppy and enjoyable.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades very slowly, leaving a good lace. Crystal clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit hop nose. Flavor is almost sweet grapefruit, malts are nearly balancing the hops with a slight bitter finish. $1.58 for a 12oz bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT.

I never thought i would come across an IIPA that wasn’t actually good. Aroma is malt, citrus, earth, perfume. The color is a dark orange, white head. The flavor is a bitter floral taste, some caramel, resin, almost like solvent. The finish is a strange resin bitter note, not quite pleasant. Silky medium/thick mouthfeel. Like most everything Saranac does - the idea is good, the execution is wanting.

Pours hazy amber with a frothy beige head. Aroma is pine, coconut and lemon. Taste is more bitter with pine, grapefruit and is well balanced with malt. Medium body and a dry finish.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a copper color with an off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit mostly. Taste also has grapefruit features and some maltiness. Certainly bitter on the finish. Medium bodied.

0.355 l bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Amber color. Thick perfumed hop aroma with mango and orange. Juicy hop flavor with mango, apricot, lemon and tart fruitiness. Nicy dryness. Good firm double IPA.

A floral and citrus aroma, pours out a nice dark brown with a long lasting caramel colored head. Medium body with citrus notes and a subtle malt character. Finish is long lasting with a hoppy after taste.

Denver Rare Beer Tasting. Poured orange, big white head. Nose was big citrus and pine with caramel to balance it out. Flavor is big sweet caramel, citrusy and resiny pine hops, big bitter finish. A nice offering by Saranac. Very under-rated if you ask me.

Bottle sample at The Denver Rare Beer Tasting event during GABF week on 9/25/09.... Not really sure why this beer was at the Rare Beer Tasting.... this one isn’t all that rare and they had the most beer of anyone at the end of the session... says something right there... pours a deep orange with a white head... very malt driven nose with some lingering hops... i like my IIPAs really bitter - this one is more of the malt balanced version... doesn’t feel all that balanced and is fairly uninteresting...
