Commercial Description:
Did you know that Irish Reds get their deep garnet color from generous amounts of crystal malts? Carefully selected batches of 2 row malts are specially kilned to develop their sugars and then roasted to produce their wonderful caramel and toffee notes that accompany the rich color. You’ll find the complexity and drinkability of Saranac Irish Red to be second to none. Enjoy!

Eh.... Pours a very nice red with a ring of head. Aroma is musty and a bit sweet. Flavor is muted sugar and a bit of hops, or is it my cold????

Bottle. Malty nose, grain and dark earth, chewy caramel. Dark clear walnut body with a lovely rocky beige head. Taste is sharp and dry, caramel and dust, a little brown sugar, overall relatively dry with a little roast. Grains and malt here are lovely, though I think I’d like a little less obvious Crystal malt, maybe some Munich instead? Smooth, malty body. To style, moderately sessionable, and not riven with flaws. Holy crap, this was Saranac? Impressed!

Bottled. Clear Amber in color. Medium Carmel nose with thin off white head. Watery malty flavor with not much body to it.

Bottle. Sweet caramel notes with slight maltiness. Weak body with moderate palate. Not bad, but nothing special.

bottle - Pours clear dark amber with a one finger head. It smells of toasted caramel malt and tastes of sweet caramel malt with some very mild hops. There’s a light to medium body and it’s simple but quite drinkable.

Location: 12 oz bottle out of a sampler pack from Gilly’s, 10/23/09

Overall Impression: This was a nice, easy to drink Irish Red beer. Relatively light in body, but smooth and nice enough. Flavor is mostly sweet malts, not overly complex, but highly drinkable.

Red hued amber color, mildly sweet and malty aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly hopped, crisp bitterness. A little thin, but this would be a good session brew. Aftertaste lingers for a while, bitterness lingers.

Bottle. Medium sized ivory fizzy head that mostly diminished, transparent orange body, fair amount of lacing, and visible carbonation. The aroma was malty, caramel, toffee, and semi-sweet. Ditto for the flavor along with it tasting very thin and watery. The mouthfeel was very smooth due to the watery, thin flavor. This is a light bodied beer. An extremely easy to drink beer due to it being very watery and thin.

Dark red pour with a slight head. Mild caramel malt aroma. Flavor is more caramel with some floral hop on the finish. Some pesky diacetyl in the middle is like buttery vegetables. Mild but pleasant.
