Commercial Description:
This robust, flavorful porter is new from Saranac. Look for a smooth, yet slightly roasted-bitter flavor and hints of real maple syrup and a deep brown color

The aroma is where you get the maple. It also has toasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, and earth. The appearance is medium brown with an average head for the style. The flavor is like the aroma without much maple and instead has a bitter somewhat smokey wood finish. The palate is thin. Overall this beer has some nice qualities but it also lacks anything that makes me want another.

Pours a deep mahogany with a thick tan head and oodles of sticky lacing. The nose shows dominant maple syrup with a chocolate powder backbone. Great with food or on its own, Saranac’s Maple Porter does a great job of showcasing the maple flavor without being heavy handed. There is a solid easy drinking brown porter underneath the well blended maple aspect, which creates a simple, but pleasing, interplay. The maple lingers into the aftertaste is a good way. Slightly sweet, but not cloying. The roast malts add a bit of tartness that keep you coming back for another sip. Well done!

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear mahogany brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that fades to a wispy film. The nose is pretty heavy on the maple, with some light coffee, chocolate, and roast. Very sweet flavor, really really reminds me of cheap "maple flavored" syrup that I get for my kids. There’s not a whole lot else to it, a little vanilla and chocolate malt but it really is like drinking pancake topping. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. A little sugary clinginess on the finish. Not the best effort from Saranac, a step down from the Caramel Porter for sure.

Brown pour withva pillowy offwhite head. Aroma is sweet mollasses candy, maple syrup, some chocolate, and some date. Solid malt backbone in the flavor, some chocolate coffee roast. Enveloping this is a sugary sweetness of maple candy. Overall I think a bit to sweet for me. But well made.

Bottle. Pours deep ruby brown with a beige head. Sweet malty aroma with some roasty hints and light notes of maple syrup. The flavor has roasted malt and sweet malts, with maple syrup and light notes of chocolate. Pretty good. One of the better Saranac beers I can remember.

Bottle. Brown with tight off-white head. Aroma is earthy/woody with maple and toast. Flavors of maple syrup, toffee, chocolate and toast. Not too sweet. Soft mouthfeel. A little watery but overall well balanced and quite tasty.

12 oz Bottle. Absolutely amazing. Rich maple flavors as well as hints of caramel. A heavy beer with a bit of a sweet taste with a long finish. Highly recommended.
