sfontain (500), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 15, 2008 Orange color; moderately small white head with fairly large bubbles manages not to be quite fizzy, but disappears into a small ring. Aroma bread and honey and yeast. Flavor same as aroma plus too much bitterness and a slight metallic note. Medium thickness and becomes slightly fizzy when swirled in the mouth. Overall, drinkable, but another typical lame brew from Saranac.
MrBeerFanatic (210), jamestown, New York, USA Oct 4, 2008 Not bad of an octoberfest. Expected the ole pumpkin flavor but more on the hoppy side. Not bad. rampmaster (162), Alden, New York, USA Oct 3, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: The body has a medium amber color with good clarity and a modest size, just off white head. It fades quickly down to a very thin covering that makes only a little slick lacing.
Smell: Its aroma has herbal hop notes with light hints of sweet caramel and bready malt.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has an average but still very good mix of sweet caramel and bready malt with spicy/herbal and mildly floral hops. It has a solid medium body with a soft texture and carbonation. The finish leans a bit towards the hops and the drinkability is very good.
Notes: Overall it’s a solid yet safe Oktoberfest beer.
CelticBrew (496), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz bottle poured dark amber with a fluffy off white head. Typical what you smell is what you taste marzen.. Flavour was malty caramel aroma with a brief bitter finish from the Tettang hops. Rather boring and middle of the road oktoberfest type beer. Just not memorable...... ratman197 (2344), Arvada, Colorado, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle poured a clear copper with a small disapating white head. Aromas of straw, light carmel and light spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, light straw and spicy hops with a crisp malty finish. blipp (809), Grand Island, New York, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with a fizzy beige head. Sweet malt and caramel aroma. The flavor is pretty bland with a hint of sweet malt. Not awful, but pretty boring.
