Clear amber, medium dissipating white head, good lacing. Weakly malty upfront, decidedly fruitier at midpalate with kiwi notes, and finishes with orange peel. Good transitions. Weak, but good. Floral, lightly citrusy / peach nose with a little pepper spice. Very mildly fruity flavor, some copper pennies and vanilla malts. Watery, lightly carbonated palate. A "beginner’s" pale ale. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 17, 2009 Oct. 17, 2009; 12 oz. bottle. As the name suggests, this brew is more "pale" than one might expect of an APA. Inoffensive and nominally-serviceable, it’s essentially a lighter, less-aggressive version of Saranac’s (English) Pale Ale. I keep rooting for these guys, but this offering is as unimaginative as the brewery’s disappointing India Pale Ale, which simply tweaked the same recipe in the other direction. Yawn. zach8270 (2122), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma is light but has a distinct floral and slightly fruity tone. Dry and bitter hops are very strong at the beginning of the flavor with a bready but dry middle. Finishes with a light peppery and slightly floral hop note. SSSteve (2086), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Pours a particularly pale color with a very loose small head, actually this is likely the most unattractive head I’ve ever seen on a beer, it’s all patchy and weird. The aroma is faint grassy and citrusy, it smells very appetizing. The flavor has significantly less hops than the aroma but some decent citrus notes survive, this is caramely in an odd way with some herbal flavors and a lil’ bit o’ butter. Palate is a bit watery but easy drinking.
