| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2009 Saranac Rye IPA is a dense, clear, solid golden ale with a soft, chunky off white head that has oily bubbles; outstanding retention and lacing. It has a spicy, grassy, floral aroma that has a little note of black pepper. It’s medium bodied and quite smooth with a clean finish. It’s reasonably bitter, dry, spicy and peppery with notes of orange peel and coriander. It has a long, but gentle, bitter aftertaste. It’s quite drinkable; not a real sock knocker, but tasty.

Tastes like a mildly hopped IPA with a bit of a wheaty backbone to it. Goes down fairly easily, but a bit too bitter to be truly sessionable. PhatB420 (135), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Ryeness prevalant like an obscure rhino at the beach this is solid! the hops are mad wild which drives home the point of self gratification of the brew. Ingest and become one with the rye! ben4321 (1040), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma: Aroma is rather faint, consists mostly of fruit, honey, and some grains
Appearance: Pours a clear orange color with a fizzy white head, some lace
Flavor: The flavor has some fruity hops, sweet malts, rye, bit of metallic finish
Palate: This one is fairly light of body, a bit on the astringent side, fizzy carbonation, dry mouthfeel
Overall Impression:
Generally speaking, I don’t know what to say about this beer. It’s just OK. Not a whole lot else to say. Drinkable, but you could skip it too.
**Just submitted a Photo for this one as well, as it was missing one.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Shared Bob’s bottle. Grainy nose, complex palate with a hop kick. Nice, but not much to say about it, a bit average for an IPA but that is still a good thing. FROTHINGSLOSH (2030), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was faint rough fruity hops. The flavor was dryish, bitter and a bit rough with some fruity hops and not a whole lot else. A touch earthy towards the dry finish. Ok. dkachur (2402), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Pours a clear golden color with a moderate sized head. Poor head retention and fair lacing. Aroma is very faint... caramel, spicy rye and leafy hops. All very faint. Taste is fruity hops with rye and a bitter hoppy finish. Fruity throughout. Medium bodied. bobman006 (67), New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours golden orange with tight white head. Aroma is floral with grass, grain, and caramel. Flavors of grain, cheese (w/ cheddar, gouda, and swiss), and an earthy bitterness. Smooth and silky. Could use a little more body. A little dull but satisfying. topherh (936), Kearney, Missouri, USA
