Dark amber-brown with a thin off-white head that fades. Nose is that prototypical ’lager’ smell that I attribute to cheap pale varieties, but also some caramel, slight nuttiness...overall entirely indistinct, no hops whatsoever. Taste is like a Bud with caramel and roast malt tones: quite malty with little hop presence and a chewy hazelnut flavor upfront. Slightly metallic finish. In the mouth this is watery, moderate carbonation, typical Saranac. I curve this up in the overall because, well, at least it is drinkable. MacDaddyOJake (274), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2006 Not a bad beer. I know Saranac has their fair share of cheap and underacheiving beers, but they have several that I keep coming back to as they cost nothing and deliver pretty well. This one fell into that category. Stronger than anticipated hop aroma and a little toastiness to it. Taste was the same but the hoppiness fades quickly leaving a slightly less than full bodied toasted nut flavor. Not bad at all though for $5.29 a six-pack. MrBendo (1044), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 4, 2006 Pours clear copper/brown with a little head. Aroma of toasted grain and lite molasses. A little hops. Tastes of brown sugar, toasted malts. Medium to slightly light body. A straight forward beer. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 2, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Deep clear ruby-mahogany with an a average fluffy beige head. Malty aroma, like a leafy scotch ale with hints of chocolate. Slightly weak flavour, pinecone bitterness in the finish - watery body, decent carbonation, slightly astringent and crisp, the malt sort of peters out quickly - just okay, ultimately - starts well. hopscotch (5528), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 29, 2006 Bottle... Beautiful, clear copper lager with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Nutty, malty aroma and flavor. Suggestions of chocolate, munich, caramel and crystal malts. Balanced decently by herbal hops. Medium-bodied and lightly oily with fizzy carbonation. Crisp, nutty, lightly sweet finish. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Brown color with a medium off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of toffee and almond. Unpleasantly sweet and malty flavor with hints of molasses and caramel and a metallic finish. This is some straight suck assery. limalimamoli (52), Oceanside, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2006 Spicy and floral hop balance, with a little veggie aroma. Nice roast malt flavor and carmel likeness, not bitter but hops are evedent. Good balance, good beer oldrtybastrd (1823), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
