Smells like piney hops at first and then a carmely roasted malt smell follows. Taste hops up front, followed by a sweet semi-burnt molasses flavor, sorta nutty, then the bitterness of the hops comes through. Aftertaste is dry and sweet. Very good brew. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA

Pours a nice clear brown with a quickly diminishing head of frothy white. Aroma is sweet earthy malts, that do remind of nuts. The flavors are also similar. Delicious really.7/3/7/4/17
RERATE. 12oz bottle from BOTW. Dark amber pour with a ring of white and splotches. Aroma is a sweet brown with a good amount of nuttiness and a touch of spice. Flavor is nice as well. Saranac is really doing a good job with these reasonably priced beers. 6/3/6/3/16 lithy (1850), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Nice aroma, friendly and attractive. A brownish pale lager appearance. Nice looking creamy half inch head. Initial taste is a little more hoppy than I expected, almost comes across like an ale. Has a hoppy back of throat feeling. Not bad for a beer except that from the name I was expecting something a little less offensive. A dark lager that many ale likers will appreciate. Very pleasant and nice carbonation, borders on artificially injected, It’s fizzy creaminess is fun and better than most beers. Much more personality than a dark American lager. Good lacing, like lingerie. Medium hop linger. Did not quite live up to its gentle name. S6L4t4f4o9 SAR NBLAG BREWMUSKCLES (1091), New Jersey, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 4, 2009 LOW in carbonation it is sugary sweet and light though is suppose a touch slick. some malt character and imitation like gum fuit flavor seems disjointed from the nice dark brown color. decent aroma light on spicy hops and fruitpunch. hardly bitter to my taste. daknole (3031), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 4, 2009 bottle from the winter pack. This one was one of the best 6 I tried...but still not amazing. Deep amber pour. Very light tan head. Aroma of yeast, bread, nuts, honey and caramel. Flavor is a weird mix of malt, honey , bread and fruit. I didnt care for the overall flavor profile of this. Again a lackluster nut brown. Butters (1654), Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Clear mahogany pour with ruby highlights and wispy light tan head. Aroma is light cocoa and doughy. Flavor is vegetal up front, but decidedly nutty on the finish. Boring. I usually dig nut browns, but this just didnt do it for me.
