Tall foamy light tan colored head. Great lacing. Aroma of boiled peanuts and milk chocolate. Big malts in the nose. Some pepper in the nose as well. Flavor is light. Not much malt character. Some nuttiness. Some smoke. Finishes with a bit of pepper and a spicy hop bitterness. Tasty. Not what i expected but still tasty. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of caramel malt with some sweet, fruity notes. Flavor the same with some semi-sweet chocolate and mild nuts. Nothing exciting, but a decent beer and nothing wrong with it either. Zaprozdower (42), Boone, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2008 Pretty good beer overall. Loved the nutty notes and smooth taste, one of the best from Saranac. Suffers from almost total lack of aroma, stuck my nose in it and could barely whiff anything. Dark copper pour with a long lasting sticky white head that leaves good lacing. Hints of chocolate in the aroma. Flavor has some brief chocolate nuts, some caramel and some underlying nuttiness. Somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Very decent - one of the better ones from Saranac. arventresca (343), Greenville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours brown with white head. I said the India Brown was the best in the pack, but I take it back. This is actually a pretty good beer. Smell of nuts and taste of nuts with a sweet carmel hint. Enjoyable. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Appearance: Pours a deep, dark, yet clear mahogany-hued body with a large, frothy, off-white head.
Smell: Toasty, nutty Munich malt nose with a drizzle of dark caramel and a scent of spicy hops.
Taste: Mixture of toasted breadcrusts and toasted, earthy nuts with a caramel sweetness. Medium hop bitterness, but you really get a big zip of spiciness. Finishes dry with a lingering earthy nut husk flavor.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Far from complex, though it’s fairly tasty and quite drinkable, deserving of a sturdy pat on the back. BEERGUY007 (206), Scotia, New York, USA
