Moderately robust and long-lasting head floats atop the dark golden pour. Caramel and toffee flavors upfront, decent earthy hop boit in the finish...pretty well balanced. The malts lend a biscuity note, the hops have touches of earth and herbs.

Anniversary Trip 2007

5/18/2007: Honey-colored with a very, very slight haze. There is a frothy and foamy off-white head. The aroma is butterscotch, and a hint of caramel malts. The flavor has creamy malts with a nice butterscotch characteristic. The bitterness in the finish is mild to moderate. This beer gets a bit more bitter as i goes along. The buttery malt also gives way to more caramel/toffee malt flavors. Medium body; creamy and smooth mouthfeel. A very enjoyable bitter.

Draught sample (5.0% ABV, 20 IBU) at Saugatuck Brewing Company in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Draft at Michigan BGWF. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate tart toasted aroma. Medium body. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable brew.
