Commercial Description:
Fine Marris Otter malt from Thomas Fawcett & Sons, UK provides the backbone to this classic English beer. (They still use traditional floor maltings. We also brew with mild crystal malt and a hint of pale chocolate malt - all from the heart of England. We have a combination of hearty American hops for the bittering component and delicate East Kent Goldings and Fuggles for the aroma and balance. Our Savannah Pale ale has an original gravity of 1045, is dark amber in color and delicious.

Deep amber hue with a short, white, foamy head. Slight caramel and bread malt profile. Spicy floral and herbal hop profile. Some apple and plum esters blend well. Begins moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. The finish is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Feels very clean, very smooth. Medium bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation. The pale chocolate malt really does come through as there’s a slightly roasty aftertaste that lingers. Very good, can’t wait for them to start bottling!

Draught pint at The Caledonian in Savannah, GA in the company of President Wunderbier. Dark amber-copper with a smallish quick-receding head....spicy nose, cinnamon and apples and good heavy bready/biscuity malts....lots of malt in the body, very full, with hints of dark roast and subtle dry hops, fairly sweet and juicy front heading into toffeeish stickiness in the middle, and drying out considerably at the finish....nice rendition, another solid beer I’d never heard of from this surprisingly good brewing state.

Poured a mostly clear dark copper color with a small off-white head. The aroma was sweet and fruity with grapey and toffee notes. The flavor was malty, fruity, and metalic. Semi-dry with a long bitter finish.

Points for being great-looking and incredibly, smoothly drinkable, this is an excellent session beer. A good example of an English Pale, it lacks the hoppy, Northwestern bite of the American Ales I favor. Quite good.

on tap at the Brick Store Pub in Decatur GA. clear copper color, light tan thick foamy head. sweet floral malt aroma. a little watery with an earthy malt start, then it goes dryish. herbal bitter hop finish. this was originally mis-categorized as a dubbel but now it’s correct as an english pale ale.

hazy dark amber, whispy tan head, lots of lace, soft floral hop aroma, great toasted, biscuit, and nutty malt flavors, balanced hop flavor and bitterness, a good cross between a viennia and a pale ale

The Ghost is one of the better blonde ales I’ve ever had, but this one is a little less impressive. Pours an amber body. There’s a bit of apple in the aroam. Virtually no hops. The ghost is better.
