Sweet and slightly sour apple fruit nose, with a boiled sweet-like aroma. A tart, yet sweet appley taste, again, with a boiled sweet flavour. (Cask - The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

Amusingly labelled as "Heather Mills" at the White Horse. Bright orange colour. Sweet cooking apples and lovely notes of cinnamon in the nose. Flavour wise this is mad stuff. Very sweet orange and pear with more of the gorgeous cinnamon and hardly any apples to detect. Just very enjoyable and totally downable. Rastacouere (5564), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Comments: A rather sharp cider where apple flavours was extracted to the max while the yeast offers lots of various funky notes. What farmhouse cider is all about.

The fourth Saxon cider sampled at the festival and the best (so far). Straw colour. The aroma was very gueuze-like and farmyardy. It’s dry and sharp, but has a hint of sweetness too at the finish and plenty of fruity flavours. Could do with a bit more body and grip - it’s rather softer than the aroma would suggest. Good stuff though.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 13, 2004 Cask@Dartford. A nice clean, balanced, pretty tasty cider, some sweetness at the start (some appleskins), tart and dry tpwards the finish, Grassy sourish sort of finish. Not as funky as a lot of English farmhouse ciders i’ve had. Nice clean and balanced, very pleasant, highly drinkable. Nuffield (2728), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jul 12, 2003 This was absolutely, blindingly tremendous. Holy cow, one of those "why am I drinking beer at this festival when there are ciders like this?" moments. Dry cider with a distinctive hazlenut finish. Lovely fresh aroma, silken smooth body, and deceivingly drinkable. Is this really 7.4%? How would you know? Clear light yellow--nothing to recommend for its appearance, but my word it is beautiful in every other way. (on gravity cask, 2003 Charlbury Beer Festival, Oxon)
