Commercial Description:
A traditional all malt beer, fermented in the traditional German method with a long cold storage. Quite full-bodied with a big malt start, balanced with quite a high bitterness and hop flavour and a dry finish. The Lager has a hoppy, aromatic, and sometimes honeyish nose. No added sugar, preservatives or chemicals; unfiltered and unpasteurised. Available in 780ml champagne style bottles. Should be consumed within 3 weeks of bottling.

Tonight was the first time I’ve ever returned a beer, this was undrinkable. Heavily clouded piss yellow with visible sediment. Very strong sulfur and wet gym socks smell that carried over to the flavour. Certainly there is big bitterness there but I couldn’t get past that smell. There must be a fault with the keg or the lines because there is no way this beer could be intentionally made this way. This was at the Australian Hotel in Sydney, I asked the bar staff (politely) to dispose of the glass.

Draught at the Australian Hotel, Sydney. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, citrus, cut grass and honey. The flavour is sweet malt, citrus and grass. Soft carbonation and light bodied, with good bitterness in the finish.

Draught at the George IV Inn. Arrived a straw golden orange with a frothy white head which was mostly diminishing. Aroma was of sweet malts, honey, lemon with some grassy, slightly spicy hops. Flavor was again sweetish malts a light bitterness, honey, lemon citrus, wet paper (mild) and a hint of pepper. Light bodied with medium carbonation, slight watery texture, dry mouthfeel (mild) and a ok finish.

Poured a deep golden yellow. Complex flavours of citrus, hops and salt. Very interesting and complex in style. Not bland. Need to try it again to better get across it.

On tap at the Australian Hotel in Sydney. Pours orangey gold with a white head. Served real cold here. Has a medium hop bitterness. The finish has a nice cloying, not drying bitter flavor. Slight citrus tartness at the end. This was delicious with kangaroo pie.

Light orange in the glass with a thin head, nothing remarkable. Aromatic nose, sweet malts, a touch herbal. Smells more ale than lager. Nose repeats early on the palate but fades somewhat, finishing subdued but with some hoppiness. I reckon this should be better given the reputation.
