does not count  Aug 5, 2008 Some mild roast flavors in this German Dunkel. Poured from bottle into ceramic krug so I had to pour into glass to take a look. Nice clarity, dark brown and small white foam head.
Enjoyed at the pub in Beilngries with a palte of Bratwurst and kartoffelsalat.
Very nice place on the tourist path...a very touristy town though small...

May 2, 2008 Bottle, 5.1%. Good spicy aroma. Clear brown colour. Very small white head. OK bready roasted flavour, slightly sweet. The flavour starts very nice, the finish is slightly grainy but not too bad.

Sep 10, 2007 Bottle (bought at the brewery): Chestnut-amber coloured, smaller foamy layer, clear; sweet dark-malty nose with a distinctive touch of toasted malt, almost hints of smoke....and mild oaky hops in the background; moderate sweet, also bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; sweet-malty, nutty finish with a soft, but distinctive touch of hops in the aftertaste. A fine, well balanced Dunkel..........

Aug 5, 2007 (bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a beautiful tanned foamy head. Sweet toast-malty, slightly nutty aroma with caramel and cacao powder. Moderately sweet flavour, toasted malty taste with caramel and notes of cacao and liquorice; medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Sweet, malt-accented toasty finish with a moderate burnt and slightly hoppy bitterness. Decent.
