| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Gravity cask at Redlight Redlight. Pours a mostly clear, brassy copper hue with a thick, creamy head of ivory foam. Showing excellent retention, the froth sticks around until the very last drop, leaving heaps of sheety lacing all over the glass. Lively carbonation streams screech towards the surface, constantly feeding the billowing head. Aromas are as fresh and clean as they come, showing notes of just-toasted grain, bready yeast, and a light fruity sweetness, all balanced nicely by a soft bouquet of earthy, floral hops. Like the nose, the flavor shows simply incredible balance, fresh toast and unsweet biscuit spiced beautifully with a peppery, floral hop bite. Smooth and creamy, with ample substance, this stuff just glides down the gullet effortlessly. This is balance exemplified. If this is what true German session beer is all about, then sign me up. This is a very strong session dunkel. It pours a deep amber with a thick white head. The aroma has enough dark matls in it to give it an edge. This beer is crisp on the tongue and refreshing as hell. I’ll probably drink a lot of it, sucka! redlight (1475), Winter Park, Florida, USA
