beerbuzzmontreal (2673), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2008 Cloudy dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate and spices. Good flavor of chocolate, caramel and spices, there’s also a mild astringent feeling. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. Pretty good.
leaparsons (3798), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown, red with a beige head. Aromas are fruity with blackcurrants and caramel malts. Flavours are berries and citrus with blackcurrant. Sweet and dry and a little unbalanced. Didn’t do anything for me. davidpl (389), Santiago, Chile Jun 10, 2008 Appearance: reddish brown color. Medium head, lasting, not very dense and with beige color.
Aroma: intensive fruity touch similar to berries, plums, red-raisins and figs. Other reminiscences of caramel, chocolate, truffles, wood, oporto wine, old rum and berries liquors.
Flavor: sweet start from caramel malts and sugar and notes of truffles and chocolate. Like in the aroma, present intensives reminiscences of ripe-red-fruits like plums, berries and raisins. Also, other slight woody notes. Liquory like oporto, old rum and berries liquors. Light yeasty note and caramel aftertaste. The sweetness hides the alcoholic degree.
Palate: medium body with semi-oily texture, Low carbonation.
Remark: intensives, nice and some complex fruity notes. However, present a light unbalanced sweetness; in spite of this, a good beer. note666 (155), Eindhoven, Netherlands Jun 7, 2008 330 ml bottle. brown amber colour.
creme head. caramel tatse. I think this could be the best ’scheldebrouwerij beer’ there is. johndoughty (1557), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England May 26, 2008 Bottle that said 9 per cent rather than 10 per cent.Whatever the strength it packed a punch.Dark, murky and not very inviting it turned out to be powerful full bodied and sweet.
