Commercial Description:
Our recipe which is based on a Munich Dunkel from 1867. It is a deep copper color with a reddish tine. Medium bodied, rich and malty with hints of vanilla and chocolate. This is the Schell’s Anniversary Draft Series #2 beer.

Tap @ Stub & Herb’s. Brown with huge head. Faint chocolate grains in the sweet aroma. Carmely flavor with faint chocolate. One of the best I’ve tasted from Schell’s.

Pours a clear but dark amber with light froth that dissipates to a thin lacing. Aroma is sweet with definite notes of nuts, vanilla and burnt caramel. Flavor is fairly light. Very light caramel. Flavors so blended together it is hard to pull them apart.

Draft at Buster’s on 28th. Pours a deep, copper-amber body with thin, white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla, and bread. Flavor is more of the same with a hint of roasted malts and chocolate. Medium-bodied with smooth mouthfeel. Clean finish and aftertaste. Easy to mistake this one for a decent quality European beer.

Interesting and unusual beer. Latest installment on their new series. Quite dry. Well balanced, malty, lightly hopped, and drinkable. Poured with a nice fine head of off-white color. Reddish brown color. Plenty of lace. Malty, roasty nose. Medium body. Dece finish. A hint of a bite. Would be fun to know more about the history of this recipe. Having a tap of this at Bodega Brew Pub, downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin USA.

On tap at Stub & Herb’s in Minneapolis. Brown color with a massive head. Sweet grainy aroma and some chocolate. Very chalky and grainy flavor and body. A little caramel malt. The chocolate definitely faded away. Not as good as the first beer in the series, but still solid.

On draught at the Stub & Herb’s tavern in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a dark copper amber brew with a thick and lumpy beige head that has some good retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, toffee, some light flowery hops and vanilla. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with a flavor of semi-sweet caramel malt, toffee with very little bitterness if any. Finish is semi-sweet with a thin caramel aftertaste that slowly disappears after the finish.

Another good anny brew from Schells. some toffee smell, as well as coco. Drinkability is pretty high, as it has a fairly thin body for a dunkel. Easy enough to put down a couple pints of this a night.
