Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

Now this one is a sad rendition of the style.Dark amber color, aroma of caramel and toffee with a roasty malt in there too.Flavor was just weak on everything, mild malt and roast with the caramel not being quite enough for my taste and the after taste leaves alot to be desired.Poor beer all around, and one they should shelve until they can get it down.

One of Schell’s better beer’s IMO.Brown color, aroma of malt and caramel.Nice flavor of malt and caramel with a slight roastiness and a little bit of hops.Finishes up fairly cleanly with a nice smooth feel. Not great but good enough for a fall beer.

Bottle: Deep crimson. Malty aroma. Sweet caramel mellowness, subdued. Sweet resiny finish. OK.

Roasted caramel aroma and taste with a little nuttyness in the finish. The flavors seem subdued.

I dont like this as well as the Bock, but i think you can only get this at Bock fest. The fact this is available year round makes it a bock of choice, as its up there with New Glaurs for top Bock in my nook. It isnt as carmely as you would think with a name like it has, but the smell is there, but could use a little more punch!

Slightly hazy amber-copper color, thin creamy buff head. Sweet aroma of flower nectar, caramel, and touches of banana. Sweet, bready body, strong carbonation, again with hints of banana in addition to dark fruit. Grassy, slightly bitter finish. Better than BMC stuff, but not an alternative to better craft beers on the shelves at most stores.

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with no freshness date. Made an average appearance, poured a hazy copper hued tea brown with a fizzy beige head that quickly settled into a thin lacing, moderate carbonation. Had a toasty caramel malt aroma, fruity esters with a little of the Schell yeastiness. A smooth, watery medium bodied mouth feel, average drinkability. Caramel sweet, toasted malty taste, some fruitiness, a little dry yeastiness and a sweet watery finish.

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a blurb about the beer on the back label and a coded lot/package number on the shoulder of bottle. Made an unimpressive appearance, poured a red hued amber with a weak bubbly off white head that reduced to a fine lacing. Had a big fruity aroma with hints of caramel and nutty yeast. Low carbonation and a watery light bodied mouth feel, average drinkability. Taste was fruity, slightly sweet, just traces of caramel malts with a semi-dry sweet finish. I was disappointed with this "caramel" bock, found the aroma and taste not that appealing.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a deep orange color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, and has a roastiness to it. Tastes of weaker caramel and nothing else to really note or that really stood out. Thin and watery body. Palate cleanser, next...

Poured an amber color with a small, off-white head, that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, light peat, and nuts. Taste of sickly sweet caramel malts, rather grainy, with some faint citrus fruits, and a weak mouthfeel.
