Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

Great smell, not too much of a caramel taste. Overall not a bad beer, left some to be desired.

I usually hate caramel but this was good beer. The only caramel taste to it is a slight aftertaste. Amber in color with a cream colored head. Pretty good stuff from a Schell sampler pack.

A rich caramel color with an understandably sweet aroma. Surprisingly the caramel taste was rather subdued. I had only picked up one bottle at a bottle shop, now I wish I had opted for a 6 pack! A nice smooth bock.

A discernable sweet malt flavor with caramel hues and a toasty aftertaste and a slightly dry but smooth finish.

One of the most delicious smelling and tasting brews I’ve had in a while. Tends to be your basic bock, with dark flavors, with a slight touch of caramel sweetness. Toffee smell comes through nicely in the nose. Recommended.

Slightly hazy chestnut-amber. Light tan foam. Sweet, nutty aroma of caramel, licorice, & toffee. Medium-light, syrupy feel. Sweet, malty, nutty flavour of caramel, toffee, licorice, & rye bread. Dry, spicy finish.

Candied malt aroma, copper, and a small tan head. An almond flavour, with some woody notes, nicely bitter. Pretty good example. Thanks to obisbeer and joey_capps for sharing.

Decent brew from Schell’s. Nice color and initial taste. Grows a bit ’thin’ tasting, however, by the end of the bottle. The less-expensive Schell’s Dark is actually a tad better for a dark-style American beer.
