Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

12 oz bottle: light caramel colour...cotton canday aroma with copperized sugar and caramel. Sweet and sour flavour that turns acidic and metalic, and finishes with deep honey malt. Better than I though this psuedo-bock would be.

Dark color with a bit of off-white head. Aroma was sweet caramel but, not too much. The tast was also sweet caramel but, not as much as I expected. Good but, I would have like a bit more caramel taste.

Nice tone - red ruby , medium sized crown . Medium bodied lager , plenty of soft malts, touch of earthy undertones . Warming alcohol.

Dark caramel amber colour with a moderate off white head. Aroma is sweetly malty with a touch of caramel. Flavour is sweetly malty with some toffee flavours over mild alcohol notes. Palate and flavour is lighter than the doppelbock which i think is definitely the better of the two. Thanks obisbeer.

This was an intriguing brew, with a very mild caramel odor mixed with a bit of hops and malt. The taste was moderately interesting, sort of like watered-down honey ale. There was somehow just enough caramel to make the beer cloying after a few swallows, yet not enough to give it real character or weight. All present concurred that it was tasty for a few sips and then grew tiresome.

Festival Tap: Watery browm with a sweet nose, light hint of caramel. Thin bodied and watery, there is notes of sweet caramel malt in the middle leading to some slight dryness. Mustiness in the aftertaste, oh so thin.

Nose of caramel, smoke and some fruit. Medium body witha creamy mid palate. Smokey malt flavors. Not much sweetness with a crisp slightly citrus finish. Not too interesting

Translucent brown color, sweetish caramel taste that finishes on the dry side. Somewhat watery and not very exciting.
