Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

Brown, low carbonation appearance. The aroma is indeed caramel-like. The caramel flavor is not overpowering, but the malt is. It’s an average beer smoothness-wise. In fact, it’s average overall as well; I can see why some people would like this, but I really probably won’t buy it anymore myself.

12 ounce bottle. Shaker glass. Deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma - roast malt and caramel. The taste was not surprisingly roast malt and caramel with a touch of sweetness and a hint of smoke. It was a bit thin though, which seems to be an issue for a lot of Schell’s beers.

I never met a Bock I didn’t like. This one has a nice thick slightly carbonated head. Smooth rich flavor.

[Bottle] Pours amber with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, somewhat fruity. Taste is mainly sweet malt, I didn’t get much else. Fairly thin. Short finish. It was ok.

12oz from a multipack from Milwaukee’s very own discount liqour. A brown ruby color with thin 1 cm high tan head. Slight malty lager aroma. Flavor of caramel, sweet malt, very slight bittering hops, some red fruit and grain. Med creamy body. Pretty plain, but not bad.

Pours cloudy brown with a very thin tan head. Nose is caramel, water, and a little plasticky. Flavor of caramel, apple, and a strong smoke finish. Thin, watery mouthfeel. I don’t like it that much.

Bottle poured into a beer mug. Pours brown with a average size creamy light brown head that fades away rather quickly, leaving no lacing. Looking at the glass it looks quite fizzy. The aroma is slightly caramel malt with a metallic aroma. No hop aroma. The flavor is slightly caramel with little to no hop flavor and a slight metallic taste. The body is light to medium with a watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall I was not to impressed, it was kind of bland, I was expecting a littl more carame.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark amber color with slight beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, sweet sugary smells and some fruity, berry aromas. Not two much flavor, all in all. Some hints of strawberry and raspberry and a little lingering resinous bitterness. Very light mouthfeel, bordering on wateriness. Way too fizzy, as well.
