Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

Bland bock with thin body. Some carmel aroma and taste---but weak. Copper brown color.

Another disappointment from Schell. Pours clear bronze with a dense tan head. The aroma has caramel, butterscotch and toffee. Medium silky body with some semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with stale dusty malt and an off-putting citric trait. Thumbs down to both Schell for this mediocre beer and myself for buying another after being consistently disappointed - after this sampler I’m done with them.

Bottle picked up by my pops about a year ago. Dark amber with a razor thin white head. Nose is heavy on malts, a little fruit, a little musk. Flavor is bland with an aftertaste reminiscent of a bock style beer (lots of malt ), All I wrote down was "malty." A forgetable brew.

deep ruby body with no head...aroma of sugar, toast, caramel, and is just overall too sweet...this sweetness is not overly emphasized on the flavor; however, nothing is really present here (a touch of honey, sugar, and earth tones)..not much for caramel in the flavor

Picked up a 12-oz bottle in the Twin Cities. I’m a little surprised to find this in late April. Pours a burnt buttery toast brown brew with a small, quickly dissapating off white colored head. Aroma has a sweet, cotton candy scent with some caramel and a little pine. The taste is sweet caramel with some hint of light toffee. Darn, I would like to have tried this with a Hot Poker and bring up the creamy off-white head, but the brewery has not sold these in their gift shop in years. Finish is a little acidic with a bitter aftertaste. Surprisingly, the Schell Bock of 2007 is quite different than the Schell Bock of 1991 as I remembered it.

A hint of chocolate very smooth, easy to have a few of these. Although I was disapointed with the lack of caramel taste. It is now avail all year long...

Mahohany clear w no head to speak of. No real odor other than glass & stale beer. I don’t taste any caramel, only a slight metallic flavor and a nice carbonation.

Poured a mostly clear copper color with a thin off-white head. The aroma was malty but overall on the light side. Notes of toffee with some spicy and floral hops. The flavor is on the dull side. Some caramel malt and earthy tones. There was a mild tartness mixed with caramel making up the bitter sweet finish. Light to medium body
