Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

This beer was a pleasant suprise. Nice sweet toffee, caramel, roasted nuts, and an almost chocolate type sweetness dominate the nose. Nice balance between Nice light smokiness accent a caramel sweetness. Very little hops, but they are enough to make the malty sweet pop. I was pleasantly suprised by this beer, as I usually am when I return to a Schell’s beer.

33 cl bottle, Fargo. Deep ruby colour, faint caramel malt aroma. Slirghly sweet flavour, thin texture, a bit more watery than anticipated.

Not much to this one. Poured to a dark brown with hints of ruby, a very thin tan head that dissipated immediately, and absolutely no lacing. Try as I might, I could only detect a whiff of caramel in the aroma, and little else. A bit of malty chocolate in the flavor (or was it just my imagination?) of this thin-bodied beer all led to a watery, unspectacular finish. Would probably make a good session beer, but little else.

Pours a slightly hazed light copper color without much foam at all. No lacing. Faint caramel aroma. Taste is very mild, with a bit of caramel malt and that’s about it. I don’t detect any hop presence, but the beer is balanced so they are obviously in there and doing their job. Not quite medium body, lightly carbonated.

Nice light caramel flavor from this seasonal brew. I got it part of a sampler 6 pack and wished I could of gotten more. Light tan almost pale head.

Clear red/brown with medium head - quickly dissipating with no lace. Aroma is rich caramel malt and toffee. Reminiscent of Brach’s caramel/toffee chews. Medium sweet finish.

Bottle. Appearance similar to Newcastle brown ale. Sweet aroma with vague alcohol undertones. A nicely balanced beer with a nice drinkability. Flavors of molasses with light bitterness and other complex flavors on the finish. Overall, however, not particularly remarkable. I remembered this being better...
