Nice sweet toffee, caramel, roasted nuts, and an almost chocolate type sweetness dominate the nose. Nice balance between Nice light smokiness accent a caramel sweetness. Very little hops, but they are enough to make the malty sweet pop. I was pleasantly suprised by this beer, as I usually am when I return to a Schell’s beer. markas101 (595), Fargo, North Dakota, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Not much to this one. Poured to a dark brown with hints of ruby, a very thin tan head that dissipated immediately, and absolutely no lacing. Try as I might, I could only detect a whiff of caramel in the aroma, and little else. A bit of malty chocolate in the flavor (or was it just my imagination?) of this thin-bodied beer all led to a watery, unspectacular finish.
Would probably make a good session beer, but little else. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 15, 2007 Pours a slightly hazed light copper color without much foam at all. No lacing. Faint caramel aroma.
Taste is very mild, with a bit of caramel malt and that’s about it. I don’t detect any hop presence, but the beer is balanced so they are obviously in there and doing their job. Not quite medium body, lightly carbonated.

Sweet aroma with vague alcohol undertones. A nicely balanced beer with a nice drinkability. Flavors of molasses with light bitterness and other complex flavors on the finish. Overall, however, not particularly remarkable. I remembered this being better... Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA
