Commercial Description:
Since 1860, Schell’s Bock meant spring was around the corner. And until recently, tradition and climate dictated the seasonality of Bock beers. Today, with the ability to control strict brewing environments, we’re able to usher in a new tradition—August Schell Caramel Bock, available year-round.
This medium-bodied, dark copper beer sports a light caramel flavor with a hint of malt sweetness. We figured beer drinkers aren’t seasonal, so why should beer be?

12oz bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a deep orange color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, and has a roastiness to it. Tastes of weaker caramel and nothing else to really note or that really stood out. Thin and watery body. Palate cleanser, next...

Pours a clear dark bronze copper with a large, frothy, thin-lacing tannish head. Aroma of lightly toasty caramel malts and a touch of German hops and lager yeast. Body starts with a mild light sweetness, some bittering noble hops and an authentic bittersweet finish. A decent bock but might be a tad too bitter for the style.

This has a handsome pour, a clear, reddish brown with an initially large tan head. Trouble is (besides the head disappearing so rapidly), it’s so watery that it detracts from both aroma and flavor. There’s a sweet caramel nose and mouth in here, but it’s so tremendously diluted that it fails to leave much of an impression. Disappointing.

Amber color with a well retained creamy beige head. Oyster sauce aroma.Very smooth palate. Lots of sweet caramel throught the quaff. A little sweet and lacking in complexity, but a very dinkable and smooth brew.

Clear copper color with a beige wispy/spritzy head. Light dry dark malt aroma with a hint of celery. Kind of tastes like a bock , but lacks depth, body, soul... Finishes with a dry maltiness and a touch of pepper. Seem to improve as it warms. Somewhat like mixing a Celebrator with a light ale.

Deep copper pour, with medium white head. malty, fruity, slightly floral, spicy, sour aroma. Tastes malty, with a slight tartness at the finsih, coupled with a definite cognacy aftertaste. Slightly light in palate for a bock, but not bad.

Clear reddish brown in colour, with a moka quickly dissipating head. Sweet caramel with hints of oxidation, and fruits, like prunes or plums. In mouth, a sweet malt with nutty notes, no hops, a bit harsh in aftertaste. Rather light bodied. Bottle from Piscator, merci Kris!
