The aroma was a very sweet malt--brown sugar or caramel. The flavor was a little flat but definite malt noticeable. Lacked complexity but was drinkable. Maybe the bottles taste worse but this wasn’t that bad. I’d drink it again in a pinch. Dickinsonbeer (3563), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Pours a deep copper, yuengling-like with a fizzy grayish head which fades to nothing. Aroma is sugary sweeet, brown sugar, toasted malts, corny and gritty with some metallic hints. Nutty toasty flavor with a blood- iron metallic quality. Seems cheaply made. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 25, 2007 12 oz clear glass bottle. Poured a clear light brown/dark orange color. Head was thin and off white without any staying power. Aroma was of malty caramel and soy sauce, but reminded me a bit of dog food at times. Dry on the tongue with a thin, watery mouth feel. Tasted of malty caramel and a touch of toasted bread. Very thin, not great. Skyview (4111), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Picked up a 12-oz clear bottle. Oh oh, hope this one does not turn out to be "Skunky." Pours a clear copper brown brew (could use some more dark malt to be considered a dark beer) with a think, fast dissolving head. Lacing is fair. Aroma of bubblegum, brown sugar, some caramel and sweet flowery hops. Taste is sweet on the tongue, some caramel and a light citrus aftertaste. A little extra carbonation on the palate but still within a "dunkel" category. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 20, 2007 Sample from 12 oz bottle. Dark brown amber colour with a fizzy off-white head. Strong aroma of molasses and fruit. Light dry, toasty caramel flavour but mostly bland. Light bodied and dry. Reminiscent of Abita Turbodog. MrBendo (1049), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 30, 2006 It seems to me that this is a ’throwback’ beer, to a time in the 60’s when you were lucky to get anything but the macros. It’s not very dark by today’s standards. Clear copper with a medium, rocky head. Little lace. Aroma is sweet malts, with roast and caramel in there. Very little hops in aroma or taste. Medium body (at best). Roasted malt finish. Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA
