amber look with quickly diminishing head. not a whole lot to say about it though. seems like a lot of the schells leave me hanging, expecting more.

Deep reddish pour. Dusty malt aroma, with no character. Flavor continues, I’m detecting a pattern here with these guys. Definately some corn flavor. Watery. Blah.

Poured a light clear bronze color with a small amount of fizzy head. Aroma is corn and sweetness. Flavor is light, watery, and slightly nutty with hints of brown sugar. Overall, typical watered down dark lager.

I agree alot with BeerAteHer’s rating of the Dark Lager and assessment of Schell’s product line as a whole. Once again another Schell’s beer with a head that’s gone in a flash leaving me a liquid that resembles iced tea. I could detect the corn in the beer. I guess corn in the beer should tell you all you need to know about this beer. A below average beer from a so-so brewery.

Schell is a so-so brewery with a few quite-ok-to-good products. Well, this is one of their so-so products. Yes, it is dark relative to the "American standard" pale lager, but colorwise I could as well be drinking a glass of ice tea. No carbonation present in the appearance to change this rating. Aroma is faint but caramel-malty: ok. Flavor is overwhelmingly vinegary, sort of reminds me of a good white wine gone bad. Schell Schell go to

Smells like aregular to me. Maybe some light hops and caramel. Taste is a little better but not much. Light malt and hops finish. Overall pretty flat.

shaker / dark american standard aroma thing. meh. let’s pour... loud and fizzy pour. let’s cut to the chase: slighly cheesy, gym thing going on, a little bit sweet, little hops, caramel, soap... c’mon schell. this is another mediocre brew.

Pours a dark brown color, but still transparent, with no head. Barley any aroma, but some slight malt. Kind of a mildly sweet malt taste. There really isn’t much here to write home about.
