Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA May 2, 2008 Deer brand pours yellow with a short lived and fizzy head. The aroma is of faint Schells corny malt, sort of midwestern. The flavor is macro like and not much else with a fizzy palate. Overall, the worst of the Schell products. There are much better. Even the dark - which is like DB, but with color. CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Apr 18, 2008 Not much of a nose at all, a little bit of maltiness. The beer has a very attractive bubbling carbonation. There is not much of a head to speak of though. The taste is very crisp and light, but very dry with a light malty taste. Enjoyable for the style. SavageElvis (134), Savage, Minnesota, USA Oct 19, 2007 Light golden color, slight malt nose with some hops to it. No head or lacing. I had a hard time telling the difference between this and the Schell’s main label beer. Either way neither one is very good. Schell’s can make, and does make much better beer than this. The need to improve or weed these out. A substandard beer. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA Oct 14, 2007 12oz bottle. very light, extremely pale color. short lived fluffy white head. simple grainy nose is complimented by faint herbs and grassy hops. rich corny grain flavor and mild hop bite. slightly better than your average macro. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 25, 2007 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from The Coffee Ground in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Looks and tastes just like the Schell’s Original but new label design. It pours a light golden pale yellow with a very thin white head. Aroma is fruity, sweet corn, and maybe even some popcorn without the salt and butter. A bit fizzy on the carbonation. Taste is light, crisp, and some fruity tones. Palate is smooth and dry. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jul 22, 2007 In the can. Thanks to KJ for the beer. Pours bright golden yellow with a poofy, but ethereal head. I’m not sure what badnews is drinking, but no one would call this beer copper in the daylight. The flavor is crisp and light with a watery and slightly metallic tinghe. A subtle rush of lemon at the finish. This is thirst-quenching after a Sunday afternoon of weeding, but not a beer to savor. With that said, it is far less insulting to the palate than most macros and a solid regional party beer. This is seriously overrated on this site at 2.9, but I will say that it seems to have a bit more depth than the onslaught of off brands that Schell also markets. Good luck defining a specific aroma for this one. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jun 29, 2007 translucent copper body with minimal white head..aroma is syrupy sweet, with bizarre hints of green apple and white grape...flavor is that of grape skin, corn, and a touch of hops...its like a cross between a cider and a pils...not offensive, but a bit questionable Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA Jan 23, 2007 a parr kraft from schell most of their offerings are quite good not my fav but a nice beer!
