Schell Doppel Bock | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Commercial Description: The Doppel Bock style of beer ranges from the round to the profound to the enveloping. In describing Bock beer, the term "single" Bock is never used. Just Bock. Nor is a Double Bock twice as strong. "Double" Bock is a very unGerman exaggeration. "Super Bock" might be a bit more accurate. Clearly, when this style was first developed, the idea was to exceed what had previously been the strongest type of beer. This was finally achieved by the monks of St. Francis of Paula, who probably first made beer as "liquid bread" to be consumed at the time of Lent. Ingredients: Pale 2 Row, Munich, Caramel, Cara Pilsner and Black malts, domestic Mt. Hood, Cascade and Centennial hops. Available January through March.
