Commercial Description:
The Doppel Bock style of beer ranges from the round to the profound to the enveloping. In describing Bock beer, the term "single" Bock is never used. Just Bock. Nor is a Double Bock twice as strong. "Double" Bock is a very unGerman exaggeration. "Super Bock" might be a bit more accurate. Clearly, when this style was first developed, the idea was to exceed what had previously been the strongest type of beer.
This was finally achieved by the monks of St. Francis of Paula, who probably first made beer as "liquid bread" to be consumed at the time of Lent.
Ingredients: Pale 2 Row, Munich, Caramel, Cara Pilsner and Black malts, domestic Mt. Hood, Cascade and Centennial hops.
Available January through March.

I was rather suprised to see that this is a higher ABV, it sure does not taste it. It excells with the aroma, but the palate is not constant enough for my likeing. I first felt it was too watery, then too maltish. Either way, it is a rather impressive find, for the price.

A well balanced doppel bock. An appetizing hop and malt aroma. Smooth syrupy body with a dry hoppy finish.

Compliments the bock nicely....slightly stronger and thicker in taste. Alcohol was masked very well for 7.15. Smooth, syruppy malt finish.

Sampled this back-to-back with their regular bock. Wasn’t quite the step up in strength that I had expected. The chocolatey taste was a little bit more pronounced and the mouthfeel was more satisfyingly thick.

deep amberish/orange...pretty big malt aroma, light bodied, hint of bitterness and slight feel of alcohol in the mouth...picked up some caramel sweetness in the finish after it warmed..i’ve GOT to stop submitting ratings while the beer is still cold!

This ’Doppel Bock’ does not have the ’teeth’ of most dopple bocks I have had, but it is stil a kick-ass litte beer.

A dark amber with a wispy tan head. Citric hops and cookie malt aroma. Smooth light body with a slight syrupy feel. Lacks some body and residual sweetness.
