Commercial Description:
A blonde dopplebock, brewed to welcome spring, which has to be just around the corner! Enjoy this version, unfiltered, unpastuerized, and with only the carbonation that appears naturally in uncapped beers in the lager cellar. Served from a traditional Bayerische Anstiche Fass, we dry hopped this with Liberty hops.

Draft at Winterfest 2008, St. Paul, MN. Grassy aroma with some malt sweetness evident. Hazy, dark yellow with a large bubble head; a rather uric appearance. Really unique. Hint of sweet biscuit. A little on the flat side. Not bad.

Winterfest 2008. Grainy nose with malty characteristics. Not bad, but given the name I was hoping to get something more out of the hops than some bitterness.

On draught during the Winterfest 2008 in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Pours a hazy golden light orange pale brew with a creamy off-white head that slowly dissolves to a fine film and thin white ring. Aroma of some multi-grain and caramel malt, some fruity character with some apple and a touch of yeast. Taste is medium bodied, quite smooth for an unfiltered beer with flavors of light caramel malt, some apple/pear character with a touch of candi sugar hidden in the fruity flavor. Finish is semi-sweet, smooth with very little bitterness. This is a nice version of their regulal Maifest that the brewery produces this time of year.
