| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 19, 2005 Sampled at Brew Ha Ha 2005. Orange in color with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of rye and pumpernickel bread. Flavor is of course rye, corn husks, and wet hay - seems very "roughly" flavored, as if it would hurt to swallow it. Mildly carbonated. lordplayer (17), USA

The name implies something that might be something like drinking tar, but upon first taste you know its very easy on the palate. Very nice orange color and moderate quickly dissapating head. Aroma very sweet, malty, with tiny hint of hops. I agree with the previous post that claims "dessert type beer". When I first tried it I was "extremely impressed", but as I try more things, I am now just "impressed". A good beer. tennisjoel (950), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2005 The malt flavor explodes here. Very tasty! Sweeeet flavor! A good dessert type beer. Not much hops at all. Dark red color, with quickly disappearing head. Good session brew. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

Sweet caramel aroma. Start is malty sweet and a little nutty with a fruity mildly hop bitter finish. Smooth tangy palate. Paid as much for 20oz. as I would a six pack of good stuff in San Diego :( PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 22, 2005 12 oz bottle - Old Chicago Pizza - Apple Valley, Mn. Light copper pour which sports a light white head with good thick lacing. Somewhat of a caramel aroma, not overly prominent. Has a good, sweet malty flavor for a lagerwith some sweet caramelly notes and a nutty undertone. Decently thick mouthfeel for a lager. Not bad. Indy (87), Hopkins, Minnesota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 21, 2005 Malty aroma and flavor, slightly fruity without much a a trace of bitterness. I could say it’s easy drinking, but there are many others better than this that are also easy drinking hot-weather beverages. Then again, I’m not really a fan of lagers in general, so my review should be taken with a grain of salt. Actually, the best thing about this beer is it’s appearance...deep orange that gives way to sunny yellow at the edges...and not quite completely clear giving it the illusion of density. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 9, 2005 Fleeting head, soft carbonation and orange colored body. Crisp and malty flavor. Extremely easy drinking lager. Average at best, must be going after macro drinkers with this recipe.
