Commercial Description:
Schell’s Hefeweizen is made with 60% wheat malts and 40% barley malt. We use an authentic wheat beer yeast culture, which gives the beer a fruity ale character dominated by a citrus-like tartness. A slice of lemon is traditionally served with this type of wheat beer.
Ingredients: 60% Wheat and 40% Pale malts, domestic Cascade, and Mt. Hood hops.

very odd color kind of a cloudy bright yellow with a thick foamy head. strong banana flavor mixed with the wheat hefe flavor. Not real impressed while drinking it but looking back on it I seem to recall it being a pretty good brew

This beer pours cloudy with a small lasting head. Flavor is very distinct. Bananas. Strong and lasting flavor of bananas. Other than being unique, not really that impressive.

This is the first year this brew has gone out as "Hefe Weizen", in years before, it was merely "Weizen". Has the recipe or approach changed at all? Perhaps. Appearance: hazy, bright straw yellow color, with a large, pure white head that's swift to settle. Aroma: Great lemony, citric notes right off the bat, fresh, alert & alive, spicy, with a bunch of banana, too. Key note started as lemon, but banana dominates. Nice, tasty, tangy texture, though the finish is brief. Body is light, leaning to medium. Taste is smooth and fruity, easy and refreshing. Not a mind-blowing weizen by any stretch, but it's a decent enough stand-in. I may return to it again throughout the summer.

This is a very decent weizen! Champagne like on the pour. Just wish it had more clove and banana on the aftertaste.

On draft in New Prague, Minnesota. Came a bright yellow cloudy haze and tasted quite clovey and very refreshing. Very good.

All the standard qualities I expect for the style are there, but definitely subdued. Some banana and citrus aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet, not much wheat. A little thiner than I like for the style. Refreshing, good.

Well I rated this yesterday, and somehow my rating disappeared. That sucks! Oh well, this isn't my origional review (or states for this beer), but I was drunk last night, and I don't remember them now. All youneed to know is Schell's beer is damn good.

From a bottle. As others described, this pours a cloudy, light straw color. The head is initially large but it settles down fairly quickly. I drank this side by side with Hacker-Pschorr's Hefe Weisse and was impressed with how close Schell's version approached in taste. Plenty of cloves & banana here. However, Hacker Pschorr's Hefe Weisse had the edge with a creamier, smoother mouthfeel. Both are very good beers in my opinion.
