Rerate: A gold orange pour. Some grape, butter, orange in the nose. Flavor is more of the same. I don’t think I noticed the grape before but it is clearly present. I like this beer because it goes against the norm. It’s got a unique flavor for sure. I am more impressed with the taste versus the aroma.

Original Rating Maibocks are one of my more favorite styles of beers (behind Pale Ales and IPA’s) so I am maybe a little bit biased on this one. Good flavor, appearance is orange with diminishing head and average lacing. A good flavor, definitely leans towards malty. Good carbonation. Overall a solid brew; a touch under the Summit (St. Paul) version.

Golden and smooth, oh so golden and smooth, rich and strong but not the least alcoholic in taste. Great stuff.

This is a new beer for me. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a honey color with a small yellowish head that faded quickly. The aroma was sweet malts and a hint of molasses. The flavor was sweet and thick malty with some molasses and a sour tangy finish.

Pours a deep yellow with amber tones and a nice white head. I don’t really get much out of the aroma, but the taste is slightly spicy. Pretty nice, but not my favorite.

bottle. a very pale amber without much head. rather spicey and without the usual sweetness associated with a bock. glad i tried it but nothing special here to bring me back.

Light amber color. It is much darker than the picture shown here. The aroma is sweet apples with some sweat socks and cinnamon. The taste is sweet honey with some honey and cinnamon. Fairly decent, but a little sweet to my tastes. However, that is the character of the style, so I cant’ knock it more than others.

Another fab brew form Schell, malty, hoppy, tastey and very drinkable. I think this one would go well at any time of the day.

I wish Maifest had a stonger appearance and aroma. Maybe not a historically accurate blond double bock but a tastey, malty, yeasty (spice), lager. Brewer knew what he was doing with this bock recipe.
