12oz bottle-Golden yellow body with a nice white head and an aroma of malt, caramel, with a small amount of hops. Taste of hops, malt, and sweetness. Not a bad tasting doppelbock but not my style.

Blond in color. Thick head, overflowing the glass. Smells of bread, and of tomato juice. Leaves a bitter after taste. Not horrible, and not great. In between

Blond color. Solid body. Sweet as style dictates, but some hops in background. Good example of style.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle in the Twin Cities, MN. Pours a light pale amber with a thick, foamy white head. Slowly dissolves and the lacing is nice. Aroma of sweet apples, honey, some citrus and flowery hops. Taste is sweet, candy sugar, some allspice, and caramel. The palate is smooth and a sweet/bitter aftertaste. Well done Schell.

had a bottle at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse. Poured with an off white head, clear true amber color, some nice lace. Not a bad mai dopple. Drinkable. Nice interplay between bitterness and sweet malt. Warming finish. I’d say session except for its strength.

Pours a clear deep amber, topped by a good inch of creamy sudsy foam. Minimal head retention and lacing. Mild sweet fruity malt in the aroma. I like the flavor of the beer - light caramel malt, a little candied fruit, then a bit drier in the finish. Ample hops are noticeable, a little bit citrusy, however the beer remains on the sweet side. Hop bitterness and a trace of alcohol come through in the aftertaste. Medium body, moderate carbonation (I think a lot disapates with the pour). Tasty, clean, and drinkable.

Schells.... Not bad--blond, as they say, and obvious sweetness in the nose and upfront. Hints of floral in the nose, but mostly alcohol, more light caramel in the taste, with light citrus, grapes, and a hint of mint. My bottle didn’t seem but the slightest metallic, which was good considering that I bought this out of season. It holds up rather well actually. Tingly, light carbonation with an adequately sticky body.
