Commercial Description:
As the days grow shorter and colder in Bavaria, shoppers exhausted from a day at the open air market look forward to stopping by their local for a nourishing glass of the seasonal specialty: Weihnachtsbier. Snowstorm 2008 was designed with the cold days of winter in mind. Reddish brown in color with a complex maltiness yielding hints of spicy rye, sourdough, and chocolate. Brewed with nine different malts, including copious amounts of Munich and a touch of Rye.

possibly one of the first time August shell hasnt disappointed me. Fruity malts on the nose. dark amber pour with nice frothy tan head. Delicious sweet fruit and malt notes from start to finish. Very nice mouth feel and very nice on the palate.

I can’t beleive I didn’t rate this last winter. To me, the perfect winter lager. Dark and rich and nourishing to the mind and soul. Malt charachter that is so enriching that you don’t think about hops and just sit back and get fat, thinking about spring but still smiling that it is winter and you can still drink this.

Bottle courtesy of Dalzale. Pours copper brown with a light tan head. Smells of caramel, spice, dark fruit, earthy. Tastes of roses, some bitter hints, caramel, some sweetness, nice spiciness as the beer warms. There’s a lot going on here. NIce!

Bottle. Pours deep amber with off white head. Aroma has herbal spicy german noble hop smells mingling with bread and caramel malt. Lots of depth in the aroma. Flavor is a range of lightly sweet grainy, bready malt flavors with a tinge of citrus and mild herbal notes on the finish. Palate is nice and chewy, but if it was beefed up just a little this beer would be absolutely outstanding. As it is a beautifully balanced dark lager with nice hoppiness.

Quite dark in color. Lots of coco, ultra malty, I didnt taste much in the way of any rye. Slight hint of the hops in there. Another good snowstorm.

Pour is auburn red. Small head which mostly disappears after settling. Aromas of bread yeast, spices, cookies. Flavor features a touch of bitterness, especially in the finish. To me, this has some similarities to Boulevard Bobs Munich lager, which I consider to be very good within the Vienna style. Solid effort from Schell, who I have been quite impressed with, based on their latest efforts.

Pours deep amber/copper/reddish hue with medium off white head. Aroma of caramel, bread, spice. Taste is pretty much the same with a hint of bitter chocolate. Good stuff.

Pours a dark amber with a decent size head. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, dark fruit, nuts. Nice balanced flavor, good mouthfeel.
