| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2009 My mom got me a Schell sampler for this pre-thanksgiving weekend, thanks mom!
The beer pours a golden color with a very big head that is pretty loose but doesn’t really go away and leaves a good lace.
Aroma is grainy and pretty gosh darned faint.
There is certainly some honey in the flavor but the beer isn’t very sweet. There is some real clear American hop character.... maybe cascades? I doubt it as Schell usually keeps their beers pretty to style but there is a citrusy hop character that work surprisingly well in this beer. There is a bright maltiness with some salty character and a light alcohol tinge. Refreshing and easy to drink, I could see a six pack of this disappearing pretty quick on a summer day.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Poured from bottle into water glass at work.
Clear bright yellow. Nice head at first but withers away; slight lacing left.
Light malt, noble hops. Mostly dry smell (almost sour), but very faint sweetness (maybe the honey). The sweet/honey smell seems to grow as the beer sits, while the hops fade. Smell is slightly too faint.
Starts with semi-fruity and slightly sweet light malts before switching to spicy and somewhat bitter noble hops. Reminds me of a Pilsner, but every once in a while I notice the honey.
Moderate carbonation. Medium body overall (certainly fuller than a pilsner). Fairly smooth (due to lagering?) and slightly creamy (due to the honey?). Very dry at finish.
Great lawnmower beer (too bad I am at work).

Aroma is a hefty grainy note, mild noble hops and light lemon citrus notes. Flavor is pretty grainy, mild sweet notes with some light grassy hops and lemon notes finish it up. Light in density, high carbonation and pretty good lacing. Overall a pretty crisp and a decent kolsch. iamqueensblvd (237), , Iowa, USA
