Flavor is well balanced--definite hops with a decent malt backbone. A quaffable lager, good for a warm day. iwantalambic (1388), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Sourish flavours that aren’t totally desirable, but oddly interesting – perhaps that is because I am trying to think about what it would have been like to drink this during the World’s Fair 100 years ago? Overall unremarkable, except for the effort that Schlafly has gone through to bring back something from history, nice job. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA

Hugely malty, and a bit apple-tinged; nice malt background, bit of late noble hops, light and refreshing but reasonably full. Well above-average lager. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 15, 2004 Very light colored, looks like a light beer. Translucent and pours with an average head. Aroma of a pilsner full of noble hops making it smell grassy with some rotting twigs thrown in there too. Malt flavor isn’t much to speak of almost none existent. Light and fizzy body. Tart finish. jefcon (999), Arlington, Virginia, USA

Robust flavor isn’t very long lasting, though. Even though it is light on the palate, the citrus notes come through the grains at the end. ruffian (149), montvale, New Jersey, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 3, 2004 Bright Straw Yellow. White head that quickly faded to nothing. Light citrusy american hop aroma almost instantly faded to be replaced by a light corn aroma, which carries over into the taste. Lingering bitterness mixed in with a sickly corn flavor. Not a fan of this one and glad I only got the one bottle in a mix-match 6 at the source. (I was interrupted between pouring/smelling and taste/drinking so it did get consumed at a somewhat elevated temp.) 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 19, 2004 Bottle pours translucent straw, fully diminishing fizzy white head, and extremely light carbonation. Malts and heavy grains on the nose. Light grass as well. Taste is forwardly grainy/grassy, with light malts. By the time it finishes the flavor has dimished. Only plus is that it seems fairly clean, has actually good lacing, and is organized unlike my last rated beer. Not a big fan of lagers, but this one isn't half bad. Thanks goes out to MarkR for the trade!

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 15, 2004 Pale golden color with fizzy light head. The aroma is grainy & malty with some hop notes. The flavor is sppicy with more malty notes. Very good for a lager, like the CAP. finishes mild & spicy too, vaguely refreshing. Lots of citrus notes come through towards the end of this one. Thanks MarkR!
