The body was dark orange with a little haze. The was a thin whit ehead on top. The aroma was soapy with some grapefruit. The taste had grapefruit along with some light caramel and oced tea. The light body makes this very drinkable.

Bottled Nov. 16, 2005 - Nice "light" hoppy aroma of citrus with grassy notes. Light flavor of citrus and is grassy here too...and a woodsy bitterness is left on the back of the tongue at the end. Pretty good. Not something that stands out a whole lot, I guess, but it’s something I’d like to drink often if it were available here. Solid brew.

slightly hazy orange-gold body with dozens and dozens of tiny, tiny floaties milling about; decent white head; cheesy, or buttery, primarily, with citrus--grapefruit, orange, lemon, and a bit earthy, grassy; nothing exciting, and NOT cask conditioned--i had this sample come from a bottle.

Pours a hazy honey/gold color with a frothy one inch head that fades very slowly to a thin cap, and leaves sheets of lacing. Smell; has more of a grassy, herbal smell instead of the citrus I’m used to in most APAs. Taste; the herbal taste really stands out, with a little bitterness. It has a dry crispness in the finish, with just a touch of sweet caramel. This doesn’t have a big hop profile like a lot of pale ales, but I think that can be a good thing. Mouthfeel was medium to light bodied. I would have no problem drinking a few of these.

12z bottle. Sept 27, 2005 bottle date. Pale, orangish, yellow hue. Nice white head. Slight pine and citrus nose. Also a little rubbery and/or bubblegum. Medium bodied with a defined dry hop note. Not really bitter, just piney. Medium malt roast with hints of sugar and caramel. But I just keep coming back to the pine. Resinous with a little grapefruit. As the glass moves beyond half empty, the flavors meld a little better, the caramel comes out a little more and the hops mellow but linger. RERATE of the Dry-Hopper version. 12oz bottle. Hazy with an orange amber hue. Finger width of off-white head. Grapefruit and citrus nose mixed with a touch of sugar and a sl;ight caramel malt aroma. Bright crisp and nicely bitter. Medium bodied with a really nice palate. Tingling effervescence. Good malt backbone but totally overshadowed by the bright grapefruit citrus hop flaovr. Mild lacing yeast character. Tart resinous hop flavors. Hits the tart and bitter of the palate. Totally tasty!

Hops, definitely. Pine, some lemon, diacetyl notes, and....pear? Some very light-fleshed fruit notes. Like a memory of a melon. Like...pears in butter. Overall, doesn’t mesh, but not bad.

Interesting that they brew 2 similar named beers - the Pale Ale and this one. I had this on tap at their pub. This has a sharper hop bite to it (I guess that’s why the other one is an English pale - a little warmer hop). Very smooth body like thin liquid caramel. Taste has a good balance of sweet and hoppy - the slight advantage given to the hops which would make it a fine session ale for me.
