Nov 5, 2005 Nice, smooth, bitter, hoppy, malty, well balance, not overwhelmingy different, just a good pale ale. Very typical of a well done version of this style.

Nov 1, 2005 In the bottle. Hazy rich golden color with a medium head and appreciable carbonation. Aroma is floral and hoppy. Flavor is apple/bitter/malty with a memorable bitter finish. Very nice.

Oct 27, 2005 12oz bottle. Served at 45.5° in a pint glass. Didn’t get a chance to try this at the Schlafly tasting. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is vegetal hops, earthy, with a lurking sweet malt backbone. The taste is grapefruit, earthy hops, held together by a honeyish maltiness. The hops certainly dominate the flavor and give the beer a moderately bitter finish. Mouthfeel is average. Not a bad session beer.

Oct 7, 2005 Slightly hazy golden amber with a small creamy white head. Slight floral hop tones with some grainy maltiness behind in the aroma. Mundane malt flavors, spritely grassy and bitter hop character. REsidual bitterness and some husky astringency in the finish. Mouthfeel is light medium, fairly crisp.

Oct 4, 2005 Hop in the City: Pine and grapefruit aroma revealed the hops in this beer, but the nose was not near as aromatic as other Cascade hopped beers. Medium body and moderately bitter flavor with notes of grapefruit and sweet malts. The bitterness does linger. Thought this should have had a crisper edge to it.

Oct 2, 2005 Hop in the City - inviting aroma of fresh squeezed juice (lime, orange). Medium malt body is nicely balanced and sweet throughout. Became a bit lager-ish as it warmed. Otherwise - good.

Sep 25, 2005 Sampled from bottle. Pours a hazy copper-orange with a full white head. Aroma is floral with sweet malt and rather lackluster. Flavor is balanced with honey, caramel and a piney hop flavor addition. Light to medium-bodied, moderately carbonated with a lingering, slightly bitter finish. Not one of Schlafly’s better beers by a long shot.

Sep 14, 2005 bottle and tap at taproom-pours a medium orange with a sudsy soapy white head. grapefruit aroma, but very mild-lemony and slightly citric, but not an over the top hopfest here. flavros are fresh cascade hops, green and leafy-light bitterness, just alot of hop flavor. great palate with a very pleasant yeast strain note. dry finish and lightly bitter. another clean and true example from schlafly. excellent balance and the epitiome of a session ale.
