| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2004 Clear dark golden brown. Slight aroma of oranges, nutmeg and other spices, very sweet smelling. Firm and full texture, a bit of whiskey and alcohol mid-drink, with some wood and roasted bananas in the finish. Quite good, though not exactly to style. Feels like big ABV (~ 10%). igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 24, 2004 Not one of the better Schlafly offerings, deep amber color as the description suggests, but this beer had a roasty quality to it that you'd more likely find in an O'fest or a Vienna. There was maybe a little spice, but this beer was hardly true to the style. thedm (3837), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2003 This rating was from the Hop In The City event where brews from the previous year were sampled (5 oz) by the attendees from kegs. This brew poured a small head of finely sized mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a transparent light brown colored body and a fair lacing. It had a very strong licorice nose and smooth palate. The malt flavor was overpowered by the licorice flavor. Jake Barnes (456), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
