Commercial Description:
This French farmhouse-style ale has tart fruitiness from the yeast and a sweet maltiness from the grains. A modern re-creation of a classic European beer style to celebrate St. Louis’s French heritage. Pairs well with fruits, cheeses, and cured meats. Debuted at the 2007 HOP in the City Festival Beer, unfiltered. Bottles will be filtered and then bottle-conditioned.

Bottled (0,75 ltr, HBF, thanks Markku K). Clear amber color, small white head. Caramel, cheese, mild hops in the nose. Alcohol, hops backed with caramel maltyness. Not really biere de garde, more like "imperial amber ale": Balanced.

750ml bottle poured into a snifter. SBdG pours orange-colored with a large semi-creamy head that lingers. It has a sweet aroma reminiscent of bubble gum. There is also a faint smell of cloves. The well-carbonated body is surprisingly refreshing without being watery. This beer is tart and has a grass and honey taste. The finish is also tart. The high carbonation of this beer is a nice change without being overwhelming.

Cloudy orange, frothy beige head. Aroma is lemon, cherry, raspberry and other tart fruits. Taste is sweet, with more honey than tart.

Butters Big Blowout - Pours a hazy dark amber. Aroma of caramel malts, tartness, some yeast. Taste the same. Sweet up front with a tart finish. Interesting. Ok beer

Bottle shared at Butter’s Big Cellar Blowout. Hazy orange pour with good ring of light tan head. Sweet orange citrus flavors with a breadiness and tart quality. Nose of spice and honey and clove and pepper. Medium body. Not overly impressed, but cool bottle.

Bottle at Butters Big Cellar Blowout. Pours an off-white head with an amber body that is murky. Smells of red fruit, sour, and some caramelized malt. Flavor is the same with some bitterness on the finish.

Very fresh aroma, more herbal than floral. Poured with a nice foamy white head and golden color shown through the glass. Very pleasant flavor with nothing overwhelming and not an exceptionally long after taste. Very good overall.
